What we collect on deepdivedata.co, why, and how to opt out.

Last updated: 2 July 2026

This site, deepdivedata.co, is published by Belenga Dev, an independent technology company based in Harare, Zimbabwe. This page explains what data the site collects when you visit, the third-party services that process it, and the choices you have.

Most of the site works without you giving us anything. You can read our investigations and use the interactive tools without an account and without submitting personal details. The exceptions are the newsletter, which needs your email address, and the analytics and advertising services described below.

Information we collect

  • Usage data. When you load a page, our analytics provider records standard information such as the pages you view, the time of the visit, your approximate location (city or region, from your IP address), the type of device and browser, and the site or search that referred you.
  • Email address. If you sign up for the newsletter, we store the email address you enter so we can send you new work. We do not ask for anything else.
  • Messages you send us. If you email or call using the contact details on the site, we keep that correspondence so we can reply and follow up.

We do not sell personal data, and we do not run user accounts or logins.

Cookies and analytics

The site uses Google Analytics (measurement ID G-5H19HQSFTP) to understand which investigations and tools people use. Google Analytics sets cookies that record an anonymised identifier and the behaviour described above. We use this to decide what to build next, not to identify individual readers.

You can opt out of Google Analytics across all sites by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, or by blocking cookies in your browser settings.

Advertising

We are in the process of adding Google AdSense to the site. Once ads are live, Google and its partners may use cookies to serve advertising based on your prior visits to this and other websites.

Third-party services

The site loads a small number of third-party resources: Bootstrap and Font Awesome from public content delivery networks for styling, and the Google services named above. These providers receive your IP address as a normal part of serving files, and each operates under its own privacy policy.

Your choices

  • Block or delete cookies through your browser settings at any time.
  • Unsubscribe from the newsletter using the link in any email we send, or by contacting us directly.
  • Ask us what personal data we hold about you, or ask us to delete it, using the contact details below.

If you are in a jurisdiction with data-protection rights such as access, correction, or erasure, contact us and we will act on your request.

Retention

Newsletter email addresses are kept until you unsubscribe. Analytics data is retained under Google's standard retention settings. Correspondence is kept only as long as we need it to deal with your query.

Children

The site is intended for a general adult audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

Changes to this policy

We will update this page when the services we use change — for example, when AdSense goes live. The date at the top shows when it was last revised.
